All Along The Watchtower Jimi Hendrix Solo Guitar Lesson Tim Pierce

All Along The Watchtower Solo Guitar Lesson Jimi Hendrix

All Along The Watchtower Solo Guitar Lesson Jimi Hendrix. Here’s a super short free online guitar lesson where, I teach how to play my favorite solo lick from All Along the Watchtower. Then I immediately blast into my own solo that is very heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix. I’m using my Bill Nash Stratocaster with Lollar Pickups, and I have a little delay going from my Eventide Eclipse. As usual I’m using the Custom Audio Electronics Dunlop Boost/Line Driver Pedal into my Divided by 13 RSA 23. I made a little backing track with some acoustic guitars panned hard left and right, and I then tripled the acoustic part with my old Guild 12 string panned up the middle. That made it sound a little more like the original record, where the 12 string acoustic is heavily represented. Session Guitarist Tim Pierce Home Studio

Session Guitarist Tim Pierce and his Home Studio Setup. I look back on this Home Studio Video and I’m amazed how much time has passed, but I am also grateful for what I’ve been able to do on YouTube in the last year and a half. This was the first day I ever met Marty Schwartz. I had known Brett Papa and Brett convinced Marty to make the drive up here and do a Home Studio Video for YouTube. Marty and Brett were heroes of mine on YouTube and the fact that I made friends with them was sort of a dream come true. They have both helped me a lot. My Home Studio is a ready to go at a moments notice. It’s as simple as starting a car. When someone shows up to record we can easily be working within 5 to 10 minutes. I’m fortunate to have people like Ross Hogarth, Chris Lord-Algae, Glen Ballard, Jack Joseph Puig, Humberto Gatica and many other studio professionals come and record at my Home Studio. A lot of the gear is interchangeable these days. It seems like pedal and amp and guitar makers are all at such a high level at this point, that you can use a new Strat or a custom boutique Strat, a Boss or Strymon effect pedal or an old Bassman or a new Paul Reed Smith amp. All these things sound great whether they be vintage or modern. The Home Studio changes all the time and best thing to do is look at my newest videos to see what is currently on deck. I’m really looking forward to learning the Kemper profiler this year, and as always, my signature overdrive and boost pedal by J. Rockett Audio, is always patched in. I was using the…

Little Wing Jimi Hendrix Guitar Lesson Tim Pierce

Little Wing Jimi Hendrix Guitar Lesson

This Free Online Guitar Lesson is with Jimi Hendrix‘s Little Wing. Little Wing is burned into most of us guitar players. I realize that I had not been playing it exactly the right way for the last 30 years 🙂 So, I learned it in a manner much closer to the original. But even after learning it, my hands were too small to actually play it correctly in some ways. I think the thing to do in this situation is make it your own because his feel is so profoundly loose and great at the same time, it’s really always a bit out of reach. For the Little Wing solo after the intro I just did my own thing. I have an original Octavia, made by Tycobrahe. I always loved that octave fuzz sound that he got that almost sounds like a ring modulator. There are so many good reissues of the original Octavia, I don’t think an old one is necessary anymore. In particular the white Octavio by Dunlop is supposed to be amazing. Once again, I use my Nash Strat with Lollar Pickups, and just a hair of distortion on the amp, not much. Hope you enjoy this Little Wing video as much as I did making it!! I probably played the intro 100 times before I attempted to film it… 🙂 Sign up to the newsletter to get access to more private videos incl. an extra video with the solo from the video. Melodic Soloing Tips Guitar Lesson

Melodic Soloing Tips is a free online guitar lesson where I talk about Melodic Solo approaches, different Guitar Techniques and Sounds. In this Melodic Soloing Tips video you can hear some of my main influences are coming out, particularly the Allman Brothers Fillmore East live double record. It was full of the kind of melodic soloing that has become a big part of my DNA. Then in later years Steely Dan and Larry Carlton also were very very important. I’m using my Mike Tuttle Stratocaster. He winds his own pick ups, and I’m using the neck pick up which gives you that Jimi Hendrix throaty rich deep sound. Please leave any comments you may have and I look forward to hearing from you.
