Melodic Blues Soloing Papastache Tim Pierce Guitar Lesson

Melodic Blues Soloing Guitar Lesson

Melodic Blues Soloing Guitar Lesson is a free online guitar lesson where I show how to play various melodic guitar ideas. Brett Papa did some filming the other day at my studio and made this Melodic Blues Soloing video. First he filmed a great song that Warren Huart produced and was written by Scott James. Warren is awesome and he comes over a lot to do guitar overdubs at my studio. After that I found a another nice track on my hard drive and just played melodically over the whole thing. On the first song I am careful to work around the vocal and it is more of a jazz blues sort of thing. The second song is just fun in the style that is probably the closest to my heart, which is a clean-ish Sustained Sound and Melody based Soloing. Hope you enjoy these videos as much as we enjoy making them !!! I also have more lessons on my Lessons Playlist: You can find more videos as well on Brett’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/papastache102 Subscribe to Tim’s newsletter and get access to a private collection of videos and more. Graham Ward Recording Session

Graham Ward Recording Session

This video was done over Skype with my friend, Graham Ward, in South Africa. I’ve always worked a lot with the producer and drummer named Graham Ward. He lived here in LA for a long long time,  and he would come to my studio frequently with the songs we would do overdubs. Now lives near Cape Town in South Africa, so we do our sessions over Skype now. He sends me the files I create a ProTools session and then we agree on a time. It’s in the morning for me and evening for him and I simply use my laptop. With a good Internet connection, he can hear parts and sounds well enough simply through my laptop microphone to be able to produce the session. Also since we have a video of each other we can laugh and tell jokes!! 🙂 The whole thing works surprisingly well!!! Graham Ward Credits: Sophie B. Eric Berdon Recording Session

Eric Berdon Recording Session

I do a lot of guitar sessions for Ken Caillat and Eric Berdon, they bring some of the highest quality songs and artists. This song was sung beautifully by a great new artist named Shaena Stabler. Ken produced ‘Rumors‘ by Fleetwood Mac and many other subsequent Fleetwood Mac records, and then he had a second huge success with his daughter Colbie Caillat. I’ve gotten to play on several of Colbie’s records – she has an amazing voice. Eric Berdon is Ken’s partner and he’s a very talented young songwriter, singer and guitarist. I used my Tom Anderson Raven a lot, Divided by 13 Amp and my Eventide Eclipse Delays. I also of course use the Line6 Echo Park which is one of my favorite delay pedals. Ken Caillet’s credits include: Stevie Nicks, Michael Jackson, Dishwalla, Ministry, Motörhead, London Symphony Orchestra, Curtis Mayfield, REO Speedwagon, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many more. Dan Chase Recording Session with Tim Pierce

Dan Chase Recording Session

This session with Dan Chase reminded me of the music that was everywhere when I first moved to LA. Bands like The Knack and The Motels were everywhere doing music that I guess was called New Wave. I’ve worked with Dan Chase for a very long time. He does lots of records all the time for major artists. People like Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Pink, No Doubt, Katy Perry, Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Goo Goo Dolls, Bon Jovi and many more. Check www.allmusic.com for a list of his credits. He brought over an awesome singer-songwriter named Adrienne Spiridellis, and we did tons of parts at a lightning fast pace. Dan is amazingly fast at taking guitar parts and inserting them wherever he needs. I mostly use my Tom Anderson Raven for this session, but I started out with a Don Grosh strat that I love that I’ve had for a very long time. Brian Reeves Recording Session with Tim Pierce

Brian Reeves Recording Session

Brian Reeves is a great Mixer, Producer and Engineer. Brian Reeves often mixes and records music for videos. Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Megan Nicole and Miley Cyrus are some of his artists. He brought over a new songwriter named Josh Gottesman. He and Josh wanted a simple melodic approach. I used a ’58 reissue Les Paul, with my Divided by 13 Amp, a little delay and Tremolo. Ze Ricardo and Tim Pierce

Ze Ricardo Recording Session

I’ve worked with a producer named Moogie Canazio for a while now and recently recorded for artist Ze Ricardo. He has always hired the best musicians here in LA, and so I’ve always been honored to play even a small role on one of his recordings. He has spent many years, producing lots of great artists many of them are from Brazil. Moogie brought over an artist named Ze Ricardo. Ze sings and plays at the same time, and he plays guitar quite well. Speaking of great musicians, the drummer and bass player on this track are Sean Hurley, and Aaron Sterling. Sean and Aaron, are two guys that I’ve worked with quite a bit. They are currently John Mayer’s rhythm section, both in the studio, and touring the world. This song was a real treat, because it has a little of that Brazilian and Jazz flavor to it. Moogie and Ze were sitting across from me. Out of the camera’s view Ze showed me the song, and I put several layers guitars on it.   The audio is straight from the camera mic, so it’s a bit on the Lo Fi side, but I kind of love the way it sounds. The guitar is one of my favorites, a PRS JA 15.
