Richard Page Recording Session with Tim Pierce 2

Richard Page Recording Session 2

Richard Page came back for an overdub session.

Richard was always one of my favorite musicians. I used to listen to this band called ‘Pages‘ when I was very young. When I moved to Los Angeles I was fortunate enough to meet him and work on some of the same sessions. For every guitar session I did he probably did 100 sessions as a vocalist, at that time.

I remember we were both working on a record for Keith Olsen (Grateful Dead, Bob Weir, Eddie Money, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rick Springfield, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Heart, Joe Walsh) and Richard was singing backgrounds with Bill Champlin and Tom Kelly. Tom Kelly became a huge songwriter after that (Madonna, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion) and Bill Champlin as well. Bill Champlin wrote the Earth Wind & Fire song called after ‘After the Love Has Gone‘. He went on to join the band Chicago. Richard never stopped writing amazing songs. The result of that was his band Mr. Mister and some beautiful huge radio hits that followed ‘Broken Wings‘ and ‘Kyrie‘ Amazingly, I got to audition for Mr. Mister when their guitarist, Steve Farris, left the band. I didn’t get the gig… but right after that I joined ‘Toy Matinee‘. His songwriting singing and playing are still superb, and these days he tours the world with Ringo Starr. Ringo has an all-star band right now with Steve Lukather, Greg Rolie, Todd Rundgren, Richard Page and Greg Bissonette – check them out if you can!

Superb Tim, just love watching the way you play with ease and I know this has come about with hours and hours of practice and work. I really enjoy watching the way you run around the fret-board with ease and the techniques you use, very inspiring!
