Heartbreaker was always one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs, not only because of the guitar but also the amazing bass part.
I’m sure it’s well documented somewhere but to me it sounds like a Rickenbacker bass through some sort of Leslie on fast speed or some sort of tremolo. In the verse the guitar just kind hangs out and lets the bass carry it. In this free online guitar lesson I teach you how to play the full Heartbreaker song. In the solo at the beginning of the video I made up a couple of Jimmy Page style pull off riffs. There are lots of lessons on soloing, a beginner strumming video,
at a studio tour where you can explore the secrets of getting great sounds!
Love the tone, Tim! I’m amazed that your guitar stays in tune with that much pulling. (I’m sure you’re re-tuning during the video breaks!) Thanks for the lesson!
To be fair you had me at the blues turnaround for crossroads lol. Your videos are bringing on my lead playing a treat and i wish id of had you teaching me when i started out as you jus make learning so easy. Genuine thanks
I recently bought a Divided by 13 LDW 17/39. Beautiful amp, but I play at home and even with the master volume the amp is hella loud for my house (I have neighbors and a wife). I talked with Fred about a variac, which he is sending me, but I wanted to hear your opinion on using a variac, versus just using pedals for distortion. I really like the tube-based distortion from the amp. I have lots of pedals, but would prefer to be able to also get the tube-based overdrive/distortion from the amp. Any thoughts?
Hey, Tim, I’m a big fan of yours, I love your videos and your style of playing! Where can I find the lesson with the lead licks you played on this video?
I thought that this video would be the second half of Heartbreaker. But it’s not and neither is the Heartbreaker extras video. I think? Does such a video exist. Also do you have any other Led Zeppelin videos? Thank you!

Hi Tim ! I’ve recently discovered your great teaching vids. While breaking down the solo I thought it would have been great if U played it at full speed and complete for orientation sake. Maybe a good idea for coming vids ? Otherwise keep on going and rocking man 🙂 Greetings from Sweden.
Keep em coming Tim. My third finger feels like Croc skin and i’m running out of picks. Thanks for all your effort.
Will do 🙂 Thanks Steven now get your fingers healed back up!

I remember learning this song by ear back in 75, It would have been much easier to learn if you been around on you tube! You do a great job!
Thanks Kevin! 🙂
